Both Falmouth lifeboats were launched to search for a person near Falmouth's Prince of Wales Pier early on Saturday morning.
Falmouth Coastguard contacted both the inshore and all weather lifeboats at around 6.15am after a request from ambulance control for assistance for a person at the pier in the Inner Harbour, and the Falmouth Coastguard cliff rescue team was also sent to help.
The inshore lifeboat arrrived just before 6.30am and started a search around the pier, and the all weather boat arrived a few minutes later to search the moorings between the Packet Quays and Fish Strand Quay.
Shortly after, the coastguard confirmed that the casualty had been found safe ashore the units were stood down.
An RNLI spokesperson said: "The casualty had been located by the police and had been taken back to the local police station."
