Firefighters from Camborne, Redruth and Penzance have tackled a fire that took over a two-storey house.

Fire control received a 999 call from a member of the public who could see smoke billowing from a house in Kings Road, Camborne.

Crews from Camborne were on scene within three minutes and found the smoke coming through the roof, so called for back from Redruth and Penzance fire stations.

A fire was found in a first floor bedroom of the terraced house and firefighters entered wearing breathing apparatus to put out the flames with one hose reel and two jets.

Surrounding properties were cleared of smoke, and the roof space was checked to see if the fire had spread. Crews remained on scene damping down hot spots.

One casualty was left in the care of the Ambulance Service. Police were also in attendance.

The fire service has said that the cause of the fire, which broke out just before 9.45am yesterday, was accidental and it then spread.
