Here is a little look at some of the must go gigs for 2015.
Royal Blood – Plymouth Pavilion, February 27. There are very few reasons for having to ever leave the county, but this may be one of them. Mustering huge critical acclaim, a clutch of awards and a massive fan base Royal Blood are no longer ones to watch as everyone is looking at them already. 2015 will be no different as they head into Plymouth for one night only. www.plymouthpavilions.com
Elton John & Friends – Eden Project, June 16 and 17. Surely set to be one of the highlights of summer, Elton is set to bring a touch of Crocodile Rock to the Biomes. Standard tickets sold out within hours, so if you have your hands on some you are in for a treat. Missed out? Well there are still priority tickets left, get saving up.
Boardmasters – Watergate Bay, August 5 to 9. After securing Snoop Dogg for last year’s surf festival this year’s line-up is eagerly anticipated. With names already announced the early bird tickets disappeared fast. Rudimental head up the first names on the bill, and don’t forget there is more surfing than you can shake a stick at. This year also offers even more luxury ways to camp so keep watching for updates. www.boardmasters.co.uk.
Chris Difford & Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze) – Minack Theatre, May 16. Music at the Minack Theatre is always a breathtaking affair, so when you add high calibre musicians such as Squeeze members Difford and Tilbrook, you can be assured of a fantastic night. Anecdotes from the pair’s long musical history will be interspersed with former hits such as Up the Junction, Cool for Cats as well as a raft of hits from their solo careers. www.minack.com.
Midge Ure & India Electric Co. – Minack Theatre, May 15. If you’ve not had enough of Band Aid this Christmas time, then news that Midge Ure is heading back south will fill you with seasonal joy. If not, just remember his Ultravox classics and all will be forgiven. See Midge at his best, live and acoustic at one of the most beautiful places on the planet, ably supported by the outstanding India Electric Co. www.minack.com
