Police officers called by Falmouth residents after they were disturbed by a loud bang and the screeching of tyres found the vehicle’s Helston driver slumped over the wheel.
Neil Craig Carter, aged 42, of Park Crescent, Helston, pleaded guilty at Truro Magistrates’ Court to drink driving after testing at 87 millilitres of alcohol in blood, seven points over the limit.
Carter told the magistrates he was very ashamed of himself and regretted the offence, which took place in Mongleath Avenue during the early evening of October 13. He was fined £225 with £108 costs and surcharge and banned from driving for 12 months.
