Police searching for an elderly man who went missing from St Austell have found him safe and well.

David Fooks, 75, was located in Truro at around 2.30pm this afternoon, following a search including local officers, the police helicopter, the Coastguard and Cornwall Search and Rescue Team.

Police are "very concerned" for the welfare of an elderly man who has gone missing from his home.

Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace David Fooks who is missing from his home in St Austell.

Mr Fooks, 75, has not been seen since 1pm yesterday, (January 26) and police are "very concerned for his welfare".

Local officers, the police helicopter, Coastguard and Cornwall Search and Rescue Team have been conducting searches of the local area for Mr Fooks.

Police are asking the public to look out for him and to immediately report any sightings of him to them.

Mr Fooks is described as 6ft tall and of medium build. He is believed to be wearing dark-coloured chino trousers, an orange jacket and a light grey cap.

Anyone who has seen Mr Fooks or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 999, quoting log number 316 of 26/01/15.
