Penryn Town Council is looking for volunteers to help combat the current problems of dog fouling, littering and fly tipping.

At a meeting in November, councillors resolved to set aside a budget of £500 to introduce a pilot community warden scheme for the control of dog fouling and littering in the town.

The council said: “Dog fouling is one of the most common complaints that the town council receives and volunteer community wardens would be trained in recording the details of offenders so that a penalty notice can be issued. “It is hoped that by providing a presence in the town, community wardens will encourage dog owners to clean up after their pets and will also provide dog poo bags if they are caught short without any.

“Wardens would also be able to assist with reporting fly tipping and littering throughout the town.”

If you would be interested in carrying out this role or would like to know what would be involved, call Penryn Town Council on 01326 373086, email admin@penryntowncouncil.co.uk, or visit the council offices on Higher Market Street.
