The last time this group was together may have been when Back to the Future Part II was on at the cinema and Jason Donovan was topping the charts with Too Many Broken Hearts, but that didn't stop the Class of 89 partying at a reunion on Saturday.

The former Penryn School pupils returned to Cornwall from all over the globe to see old schoolmates at the class of 89’s 25 year reunion.

Travellers from Scotland, Copenhagen, and even New York, all met at Penryn Rugby Club on Saturday night for the class of 1989 reunion.

One of the organisers, Ruth Avery, said: “It was very good, a really good turnout.

“When you haven’t seen somebody for 25 years and you all meet up, it’s like you’ve never been apart. We all said we must have had the best school year.”

The reunion was set up by Adrian Rashleigh, who contacted his former schoolmates on Facebook, and with a few other organisers arranged for the rugby club to host an evening including pasties and an 80s disco.

The group charged £10 per ticket to cover costs, and had originally intended for any extra to go to Cancer Research, but decided instead to give it to the traveller from New York, to allow her to enjoy her stay in the UK with her ill mother.
