A charity helping young people up to the age of 21 in sport in both Cornwall and the rest of the world is being wound up with immediate effect.
At a recent meeting of the trustees it was resolved that the John Kendall-Carpenter Trust Fund, which is linked to the Cornwall Rugby Football Union, will donate all of its residual funds to the children’s charity, Children’s Hospice South West Little Harbour, St Austell.
Educated in Truro, John Kendall-Carpenter was one of only five Cornishmen to captain the England Rugby team - the others were E K Scott, Vic Roberts, Richard Sharp and Phil Vickery. He won 23 caps as a back row forward between 1949 and 1954. The fund was set up after his death in 1990.
