A large Gorse fire near Roche which threatened electricity pylons led to a call out for crews from four different stations last night.
Pumping appliances with crews from St Dennis, St Columb, Bodmin and St Austell attended the blaze at Goss Moor at around 10am, following several repeat calls from passer-bys and nearby or overlooking houses.
A fire service spokesperson said: "The gorse fire was in an area of approximately 40 acres - there were two main fronts; one approximately 200 metres in length, and the second approximately 40 metres in length. Crews used one hose reel jet initially, then beaters in the main, to extinguish the fires."
Western Power, then the National Grid, were also called after reports that electricity cables had started arcing.
