A photography project designed to document the life of Helston every day for a year is now a month in.

Helston 365 is being organised by artist Jude Carroll, who hopes to find 365 different people to take a photograph in the town or surrounding area – one for every date in the calendar.

So far more than 100 people have signed up, but there are still many more needed to fill Jude’s diary of participants.

She said: “I am pleased with the response. People seem to like the idea and every photo tells a different story – the people as unique and varied as the place.”

So far images that have been sent in include one of Coinage Ope by Helston’s town centre regeneration officer Martin Searle, who was taken with the area when exploring during the first few weeks of his appointment, and one of a tractor parked outside Helston Grill in Coinagehall Street by Sam Quick.

Others feature an upside down date on a prominent Cross Street building, walkers along the Cober, the view from the Guildhall across rooftops, boats in Gweek, the sea off Loe Bar and the Anson memorial, someone working for the foodbank, messages on billboards.

You do not need to be an expert in photography to get involved, just take a photograph of something special about the town and area – whether it is a favourite place, a special event, an object of historical significance or an everyday activity with a particular meaning.

The photographs will then be exhibited in the gallery of Helston Museum next year, with a brief explanation of its significance accompanying each image.

Photographers will be able to choose the date they wish to document, provided it has not already been booked up.
