Firefighters were called out to Barncoose Industrial Estate, Redruth, yesterday after a report of a chemical spill.
Appliances from Redruth and Camborne were mobilised just before 5pm, on arrival the crew found approximately 5 litres of a liquid had spilt on the road.
A spokesman said: "Precautions had been taken before arrival of Cornwall Fire and Rescue to stop the spill entering the drain system.
"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using gauntlets placed the contaminate in a overdrum and any remaining fluid was diluted using a high pressure hosereel and the highway was washed down."
