A date has been set for the people of Penryn to choose two new town councillors after there were enough candidates to merit an election.

The town is expected to go to the polls on March 26, and nominations must be submitted to Cornwall Council's deputy returning officer by February 27.

There is a vacancy for one seat in Penryn West and another for Penryn East and Mylor, and there will only be an election if there is more than one candidate for either ward.

The official notices for the vacancies were published on February 19, and eligible candidates who wish to stand will need to obtain nomination papers from the Deputy Returning Officer at Cornwall Council, St Austell One Stop Shop, Council Offices, Penwinnick Road, St Austell PL25 5DR (01209 614298), who will prepare a paper for signature upon request.
