One person had to be treated for burns after a fire broke out at an industrial estate in Treswithian near Camborne yesterday morning.

Firefighters were called at around 10.15am to reports of a fire involving a gas axe and gas cylinder at a premises on Formal Industrial Estate.

Two fire engines from Camborne and Penzance arrived within three minutes of the call, along with a flexi-duty officer and a hazardous materials officer, to find the fire was out on arrival as the gas supply to the cylinder had been cut off.

A fire service spokesperson said: "Crews assessed the cylinder using a thermal imaging camera and the facility was evacuated.

"An ambulance was requested to attend to treat one casualty suffering from minor burns and smoke inhalation.

"Fire crews cooled the cylinder by applying water to the cylinder with a hose reel before rechecking the temperature of the cylinder. Fire crews monitored the gas cylinder for over one hour until the scene was declared safe."
