A motion to revoke a previous decision to prioritise land on a site at College Valley in Penryn will be discussed at a meeting of the town council on Monday evening.
The motion follows almost a month of protests and discussions by local residents who are unhappy with the council for supporting development on what they see as a green field site.
However, the motion up for discussion does not seek to totally overturn the previous decision by the council, instead aiming to reduce the size of the site, by not including an area on the slopes of the valley below the road at College Hill.
The motion, from councillors Gillian Grant, Mary May, Shelley Peters, Chris Smith and Mark Snowdon, reads: “That the decision [to prioritise College Valley for housing] be revoked... and that the College Valley land should be prioritised, with the exception of the open area of land adjacent to the viaduct on the lower side of College Hill, with a very strong emphasis on ensuring the delivery of 40 per cent affordable housing.”
