Zafiro’s, The William IV and The Office in Truro have been named the 'Best Bar None' in the annual awards set up to honour presponsible management and operation of alcohol licensed premises in Cornwall

The scheme rewards those that meet minimum standards for licensing legislation including the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, prevention of nuisance, health and safety and protection of children.

Zafiro’s and The Office both based in Truro are a family run business and won the Training award as well as Best Bar and Best Club. The William IV Truro were first time entrants and won Best Small Pub, while The Green Parrot in Perranporth won the new Most Improved Premises Award.

The overall winner of Cornwall Best Bar None 2015 was Walkabout in Newquay, which also won the Best Large Pub award.

The Chairman of Cornwall Council, Cllr John Wood, presented awards to the category winners and the overall winner of Cornwall Best Bar None.

Jez Bayes, chairman of the Cornwall Licensing Forum, said: “Alcohol plays a large role in the life and economy of Cornwall. This means that it is very important that we sell and enjoy it as safely as possible. Best Bar None is one way of making sure that our largest premises are running at high standards, so that they serve local and visiting customers, and our communities, as responsibly as possible.

"Congratulations to all accredited premises and winners on this achievement, and thanks to all those involved in the assessments.”

Premises achieving the standard for accreditation under the Scheme for 2015 are: Eclipse Nightclub, Bodmin Chapel an Gansblydhen, Bodmin The John Francis basset, Camborne The Packet Station, Falmouth The Cribbar, Newquay Walkabout, Newquay Towan Blystra, Newquay The Central, Newquay The Tremenheere, Penzance The Green Parrot, Perranporth The Hop and Vine Steak and Ale House, St Austell The White Hart Hotel, St Austell The Rann Wartha, St Austell The Hain Line, St Ives The Office, Truro Zafiro’s, Truro L2 Nightclub, Truro The William IV, Truro The Try Dowr, Truro Premises category winners for 2015 are: Training – Zafiro’s, Truro Best Small Pub – The William IV, Truro Best Large Pub – The Walkabout, Newquay Best Bar – Zafiros, Truro Best Nightclub – The Office, Truro Most Improved Premises – The Green Parrot, Perranporth
