Fancy swinging through the air at 70mph, well thanks to a new ride billed as one of the largest and fastest of its kind in Europe at Flambards, you can.

Capable of travelling at speeds of up to 70 kph and seating 48, the ‘Sky Swinger’ has been built by Italian carousel specialists Lamborghini Rides.

Riders are lifted more than 13 metres in to the air on swinging chairs suspended from the top of the carousel. As the ride increases towards top speed the upper section of the carousel also tilts, giving riders the sensation of flying through the air.

The ‘Sky Swinger’ is part of an ongoing investment programme for the Helston theme park which will also see the return of the hugely popular ‘Demon Dropslide’ after an absence of four years and the opening of a new Victorian-themed sweet shop called ‘Humbugs’.

Flambards General Manager, Richard Smith said: “The Sky Swinger will be a thrilling addition to the theme park and provide visitors with a completely new ride to enjoy.

“As a family attraction we have opted for this particular ride as children over 105cms will be able to go on it accompanied by an adult and anyone over 130cms tall will be able to ride unaccompanied.

“It’s just one part of our ongoing investment programme for Flambards as we constantly look at new and exciting ways to further improve the overall visitor experience.

“Everyone here was delighted with the positive feedback we got last year and we are now looking to build on that success both by offering our visitors new experiences and also looking at the best ways to enhance the existing elements of the park.

“Both the return of the ‘Demon Dropslide’ and the opening of the new ‘Humbugs’ sweet shop are as a direct result of visitor feedback and we are also investing significant sums in the general appearance of the park he added.

Flambards will re-open for the main season on Saturday, March 28.
