One person had to be taken to hospital after a fire ripped through a bungalow at Ashton on Sunday morning.

Appliances from Helston and Penzance were mobilised just before 1am, with further resources requested from Camborne after the scale of the fire was assessed.

A fire and rescue spokesman said: "Crews found that a detached bungalow measuring twenty metres by ten metres was well alight, teams of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used high pressure hosereel jets and dry powder extinguishers at the scene.

" The crews were deployed for a considerable time as the fire had spread to the roof space.

One casualty was treated at the scene by fire personnel, who administered oxygen until the arrival of ambulance crews, the casualty was then transferred to West Cornwall Hospital.

A fire investigation was also carried out.
