Dawn French will be formally installed as Falmouth University’s first Chancellor on Thursday, March 26.

The installation ceremony, which takes place at King Charles the Martyr Church in Falmouth, will be followed by a day of celebrations as Dawn is officially welcomed to Falmouth University.

Please come and line the streets and be part of this historic day for the town.

The schedule of events for the day is:

10:50am: ‘Paint the Town Yellow’ Procession from The Moor to King Charles the Martyr Church The ‘Paint the Town Yellow’ Procession starts the proceedings, with Redruth School Samba Band leading the way. School children from ten local schools will parade through the town, handing out bunches of daffodils. The schools taking part are: • Mabe Community Primary School • King Charles Primary School • St Mary's Catholic Primary School • St Francis C of E School • Marlborough School • Falmouth School • Penryn Primary School • Penryn College • Flushing Church of England Primary School • Falmouth Primary School

11:00am: Academic Procession from The Moor to King Charles the Martyr Church The Academic Procession starts at The Moor and will go through the High Street to the Church of King Charles The Martyr, where the Installation Ceremony takes place. Kernow Pipes and Drums will lead the Academic Procession, with the Mayors and Macebearers from Falmouth University, and Penryn and Falmouth towns. Dawn will be part of this procession to the church.

11:30am: Installation Ceremony in King Charles the Martyr Church The ceremony to install Dawn takes place. Attendance at the ceremony is ticket only.

12:30pm: Chancellor’s Procession from King Charles the Martyr Church to Pendennis Castle With Dawn installed as Falmouth University’s new Chancellor, the second procession will begin from the church towards Pendennis Castle. The Lizard Stallions and Coach will take the Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor to a reception, led along the sea front and up to Pendennis Castle by the Kernow Pipes and Drums.

1:30pm: Reception at Pendennis Castle for guests only.
