Community radio station The Hub has helped raise £1,400 at charity barn dance in aid of Tanya’s Courage Trust

On Saturday, March 7 The Hub teamed up with the charity to put on a charity barn dance in Probus, with almost 200 people turning up to show their support and party the night away.

The Newlyn Reelers lead the dance proceedings with people of all ages, coming together to have fun and show their support.

Both organisations would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all their volunteers and to the kind people of mid Cornwall for their generous support of our first barn dance.

Skinners Brewery, Cornish Orchards and St Austell Brewery kindly donated generous amounts of beer, wine and soft drinks for the bar.

During the evening winners of the prize raffle were announced. The Cornwall Hotel, Iconic Hair & Beauty and The Plume of feathers in Portscatho were among many local business to kindly offer up prizes.

The Tregony based radio station, which launched last year, is run by a group of dedicated volunteers with the aim of supporting local communities across mid Cornwall.

Tanya’s Courage Trust, a local charity which supports young people with Cancer, has charity shops in both St Austell and Penzance.

Sally Carter, event organiser said: “The hall was packed with people of all ages, who threw themselves into the dancing and clearly enjoyed an evening of fun – and good natured chaos.”

Thanks also too many local businesses who supported the dance with donations of prizes and refreshments. It was an evening we shall all remember - and hopefully repeat!
