A campaign to raise funds to repair Carn Brea Castle after mindless vandals smashed dozens of windows has raised its £500 target.

The Grade 2 listed building 14th Century building at Carn Brea, near Carnkie, Redruth is run by Mounir Sawalha and his family, specialising in Jordanian cuisine.

The castle is a former hunting lodge, built originally in 1331 and extensively rebuilt in the 19th century.

The campaign says: "There is a very strong community in Cornwall and if we can unite to support this lovely local business then we can laugh in the fact of the horrid people that did this - we can help fund the fixing of the windows, and if that's covered by the insurance, use the money for marketing and PR to further promote the restaurant this summer.

"Let's come together and let's help Carn Brea Castle Restaurant get back on their feet."
