Firefighters from two fire stations were called to a halls of residence in Penryn last night following reports of a kitchen fire.
Crews from Falmouth and Truro and a wholetime officer were sent to the blaze on Treliever Road at around 6.30pm, and found smoke issuing from the building.
A fire service spokesperson said: "The fire was located in a ground floor kitchen area. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hosereel jets to extinugish the fire and a thermal image camera to confirm the fire was completely out, they also cut away to confirm that the fire had not spread. A positive pressure ventilation fan was then used to clear the building of smoke.
"The fire was confirmed to be accidental and confined to the kitchen."
