Members of Embrace Dance Fitness group put on their “war paint” and descended on The Moor in Falmouth last weekend to encourage women to sign up for Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life in May.

By the end of the recruitment session, 55 women had put their names down to join the “pink army” who will gather at Gyllyngvase Beach car park in Falmouth on Sunday May 17 ahead of the 5K run.

In addition to encouraging women to take part, the Race for Life “Battle HQ” gave shoppers a chance to try the bold face paint designs and funky nail art associated with this year’s events.

There is still plenty of time to pledge support for the run. Embrace instructor Gillian Sadler, 36, from Penryn, said: “We’re delighted to be taking part in Race for Life’s Battle HQ. We want |to encourage local women of all ages, shapes and sizes to join in the fun and sign up for Race for |Life today.”

Last year, 1,184 women in Falmouth pulled on their trainers and put their heart and soul into raising £64,037 for life-saving research. This year, organisers need 1,200 women and girls to |stride out to help raise £65,000 to help save more lives.
