A team of colleagues from Asda in Penryn will be competing at the annual Cornwall Beach Games in June and are encouraging other companies to get involved.

The annual barefoot event, now in its fifth year, will be taking place at Perranporth Beach on June 12 at 3pm when businesses from across Cornwall will compete in a series of fun and light-hearted beach-based games.

The event has been co-organised by Cornwall Sports Partnership, the Health Promotion Workplace Health Programme and Cornwall College, to give Cornish companies the chance to have some active fun outdoors with their fellow colleagues and network with other businesses.

“Our colleagues really look forward to the Cornwall Beach Games each year,” said Bernadette Snow, of Asda Penryn. “There is a real buzz about the store beforehand and we always have such a great time on the day. Taking part in the various team games, competing against other local businesses and enjoying the friendly atmosphere, it is a great event and encourages colleagues to try sport and get active.”

Activities this year include volleyball, tag rugby, netball, tug-of-war, a sand castle competition and, new for this year, a treasure hunt. The games are suitable for all ages, with no previous experience required and all equipment is provided, although competitors should bring a bucket and spade for the sandcastles contest.

There is no limit to squad sizes but a minimum of eight team members are required for the activities of which at least two must be female. If you are a small organisation and don’t have eight team members or struggle for females, Cornwall Sports Partnership will help, matching you with another small organisation to create a team.

The day costs £100 per team and places are available on a first|come, first served bases. The booking deadline is June 5. |For more information contact |either Bruce Lockie or Jenna Pickering on 01872 323344 or email info@cornwallsportspartnership.co.uk
