A popular lollipop lady at Perranporth School has celebrated 25 years of service since she started helping with her own children and their schoolmates.

Carol Wye has been getting children over the road at Perranporth since 1990, when she started the job on a temporary basis as she took her own children, now aged 37 and 32 years, to school because there was no patrol at that time.

Carol says “I have made lots of new friends by being at the school. Some of the young ones I helped cross the road when I started now have children of their own. I enjoy every minute of it, even if the weather is bad, you get used to it.”

Carol has also worked for 18 years as a lunchtime assistant and has recently taken on a third job cleaning at the school.

Perranporth School presented Carol with a bouquet of flowers to mark the achievement.
