Cornwall Council is £17,500 richer following the sale at auction of former public toilets in Camborne.

The council had instructed Clive Emson, the regional land and property auctioneers, to place the Gurneys Lane loos in its latest auction and the block sold in just minutes.

Graham Barton, auctioneer and regular on BBC1’s Homes Under the Hammer, said: “Former public conveniences always gain interest, especially blocks of this size and location in a town centre. The new owner may well have any eye on redevelopment subject to the necessary consents being gained.”

As well as separate male and female toilets and disabled facilities, the building also includes two storerooms. This latest loo sale follows the disposal of former public toilets with sea views at Charlestown, near St Austell, which went for £115,000 after a bidding war at auction in March.
