Falmouth Art Gallery has been celebrating the Museums at Night festival with a unique after hours event staged in collaboration with Falmouth University and the Fal and Penryn Look Group.

For the "Suspect Freeze Frame" event, students from the university set up scenarios and characters in response to the gallery’s current murder mystery exhibition A Question of Guilt. Under the guidance of artist and tutor Jesse Leroy Smith and photographer James Hankey they created a series of photographic images.

The students who took part are interested in performance, costume and photography in their developing art practice. They were joined at the event by the Fal and Penryn Look Group. After a lively discussion about what motivates artists to make images and how they decide to best communicate their ideas, they staged a group photo around the table in the neighbouring council chamber.

The photos they created are currently on display in Falmouth Art Gallery’s Community Gallery hung alongside prints by university students which were created in response to the gallery’s print collection.

Museums at Night is a nationwide festival of out of hours events organised by Culture 24. This year it was held from May 13 to 16 and again from October 30 to 31.

A Question of Guilt is on display until June 20 at the gallery which is open between 10am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and admission is free.
