MAWNAN'S Musical Extravaganza hit all the right notes with villagers and supporters of the Global Natural Healthcare Trust, raising £860 for the charity which provides medical care to people, mainly children, in South Africa.

The cash will be used to replace the tyres on the vehicle used by Annette Montague Thomas, the founder of the charity who lives in Truro, to travel around the settlement giving medical help to those too sick to go to the medical centre. The vehicle, known as Helga, has done over 200,000 miles and needs to be in good condition to cope with the pitted roads.

The show held at Mawnan Memorial Hall featured song and dance sketches performed by pupils from Victoria's Dance Academy in Falmouth, and members of the pantomime groups of both Mawnan Smith and Mylor Bridge.
