The talent of craftsmen, women and children from the local area was laid out and admired at the Nancegollan Village Hall when the village fair got underway with a raffle and plenty of cake.

As part of the show, which has been running annually since 1998, there was a Cornish section, as well as a class for eggs, hand-made crafts, flower art, and wine.

A children’s section saw the work children attending schools in area had completed. In this section, every child who was exhibiting work won a prize.

Show organiser Margaret Gash said: “It went very well. Other classes had less in them this year but other ones were up. Overall attendance was very good and the candidates were to a very high standard.”

When asked what class she was most pleased with, Margaret said: “I was most pleased with the flower arts class but this is mainly because that had the most exhibits in it. I think that was because we have been running flower art classes. Really, though, it is very difficult to say because they were all very good. It has always been worth-while. It is very hard work, all the work that goes into it, but it is worth it.”
