CUSTOMERS of the CAST Cafe are now enjoying a new wood burning stove and quite a substantial stock of wood to go with it, after receiving a positive response from their Heath for Helston Crowdfunding campaign.

A large, and what has been described as "handsome," Clearview stove is now sitting comfortably on a large hearthstone in the cafe. Chair of CAST, Teresa Gleadowe, said: “We’re thrilled with the support we received to buy and install a magnificent wood-burning stove in our café space. This has made all the difference to the welcome we can give to café visitors and to participants in our public programme of workshops, talks, screenings and other events.”

A large donation of chopped wood that had been spread over the Trelowarren Estate was made by Sir Ferrers Vyvyan. The wood was collected, delivered and stacked by nine volunteer aircraft engineering technicians from RNAS Culdrose, headed by Chief Petty Officer, Stewart Yates.

Teresa added: “Sir Ferrers Vyvyan’s offer of wood was wonderfully generous, but we could not have taken advantage of it without the support of RNAS Culdrose. We’re enormously grateful to the volunteers who did the job so quickly, efficiently and cheerfully, and to all who supported our Hearth for Helston campaign.”
