There was cake and dancing as an organisation which provides education for education's sake to people in retirement has celebrated 25 years of activity in Falmouth, Perranwell and Truro.
Members of the University of the Third Age (U3A) met at Perranarworthal Village Hall on Wednesday to mark 25 years since Carrick U3A was founded with a day of celebrations.
The group enjoyed a morning of crafts and stalls before lunch, with the afternoon devoted to more active pursuits such as traditional Cornish dancing, and the cutting of three birthday cakes by noted members of the U3A community in Cornwall.
Jill Nicholls, the vice chairman of Carrick U3A, said: "University of the Third Age in Carrick will be 25 years old in July, and I wanted to celebrate it somehow. Plenty of people were like-minded and we got together."
There was a roll of honour presentation to Ian Searle, the former chair of the Carrick group, who later became national chairman of the Third Age Trust.
The group has also carried out video interviews of some long term members, which were on show along with an archive covering the past 25 years.
Jill added: "A great deal of hard work has gone into preserving an archive."
