A person pulled from the waters of Falmouth harbour sparked a hunt of the area for a second potential casualty around lunchtime on Sunday.
Police asked for assistance from Falmouth RNLI's inshore lifeboat after someone taken from the river near Greenbank Quay indicated that somebody else might still be in difficulty, and Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team was also tasked to help the police who were already on scene.
An RNLI spokesperson said: "A search was commenced of the coastline and moorings from the pier, past Greenbank Quay up to the Coastline Wharf in the Penryn River. Once this was completed the search was expanded to cover the Inner Harbour and then the moorings between Flushing and Trefusis Point. By 3.26 the area had been extensively searched and as there was no additional information the inshore lifeboat was released to return to its station.
"An extensive search of the area was carried out without anyone being found so the search was terminated."
