The villagers of St Keverne will be joined by many other Cornish folk for the annual An Gof commemoration on Saturday, June 27.

Visitors and locals will come together for the annual event to commemorate Michael Joseph An Gof, a local blacksmith who marched to London in 1497 in support of Cornish rights.

The evening will include Cornish themed entertainment including special guests Anna Maria Murphy and Jenny Beare of Kneehigh Theatre, with music from the An Gof Band and An Gof Singers, and there will also be pasties available, and a bar.

Michael An Gof became a Cornish icon after he and Bodmin lawyer Thomas Flamank led an uprising of Cornishmen to London in protest at the imposition of taxes by the king, before being captured and executed.

Everybody will meet at the statue of An Gof at 7pm, for a commemorative service in the square, before proceeding to the Parish Hall for entertainment at 8pm.
