THE celebration of world foods presents Andy Bates alongside some of Cornwall’s top street food chefs at Enys Gardens, Penryn the weekend of July 11 and 12.

TV Chef Andy Bates will be hosting the event, entertaining visitors with inspirational talks together with Matt Vernon from 7th Rise, sushi chef Hiromi Bunday and the Cornish Seaweed Company.

Andy Bates says:“ I am really excited to be a part of Food Jam, championing small businesses and showcasing the best of the regions produce in the unspoilt, beautiful surroundings of Enys Gardens.”

Food Jam will feature a “street food trail” inviting visitors on a culinary journey that aims to cultivate the exploration of world foods whilst also enjoying the surrounding historic gardens.

The trail will meander through the house, gardens and marquee, allowing you to enjoy live music, feature talks, food demos and sample locally crafted beer from Ponsanooth based microbrewery Dynamite Valley.

Andy Bates, presenter of ‘Street Feasts’ at the Food Network Channel, has experienced street food events across the globe but is yet to exhibit his passion for food in Cornwall.

“Usually associated with urban environments, it shows just how far the movement has come to being held in the lush surroundings of Enys Gardens”, Andy explains.

Throughout the weekend there will be several family friendly activities with highlights such as a wildlife / nature discovery trail where children will get the chance to explore Enys and all it has to offer - mini beast hunt, bark rubbing, nest building, leaf pictures and a screen printing workshop inside.

The organiser behind the event, former local business owner Emma Powell-Thomas says: ”The aim with Food Jam is to create the perfect family-day out in an unspoilt setting. Enys as the backdrop, fresh street food, local ales, live music and plenty of entertainment for the children. Something for everyone to enjoy”

Entrance to the gardens throughout the festival weekend is reduced to £2 adults / free for children. Gates open at 11am and close at 5pm (last entry 4.30pm).
