TEACHERS and parents gathered at Camborne Science and International Academy to celebrate the success of their year seven, eight and nine students.

The school’s annual Celebration of Achievement evening saw over 400 guests attend to see awards presented for outstanding academic achievement and commitment in the full range of subjects.

“We are immensely proud of our CSIA students and events like this showcase what incredible talent we have” said principal, Ian Kenworthy. “Every student plays a valuable role in making our academy the top performing state school in Cornwall and these awards celebrate their efforts and accomplishments.”

The audience were entertained with performances by Niamh Symons of year nine who sang Turning Tables as well as Camborne Youth Band.

Certificates were given for outstanding academic achievement and commitment, to students of merit and distinction followed by plaques and trophies for the Youth Speaks award, the Moffat Music Cup, the Stuart Solomon Award, the Godrevy Plate Award, the Pip Tuckey Award, Student Voice Certificates, house awards and the presentation of the Sportsperson and Student of the Year Shields.

“It was a very successful evening and great to see so many of our young people rewarded for their excellent achievements and commitment to our school” added Mr Kenworthy. “This occasion is one of the highlights in the academy year and one of my favourite parts of my role as principal.

“Seeing the students come on stage to applause and adulation with grins a mile wide is fantastic. These awards enthuse and inspire the whole school community and we congratulate all our winners.”
