Police have released the name of a woman whose body was found at Bedruthan Steps near Newquay at the start of July.

Police are appealing to the public for information after the body of 49-year-old Laura Summers was found on Wednesday July 1 at approximately 11.50am.

Police are asking looking for anyone who may have seen Laura, described as white, 5'7" tall of medium build and with shoulder length hair, in the weeks leading up to her death, or anyone who may have known her in any capacity.

Detective Constable Sarah Northcott said: “The death of Laura isn't currently being treated as suspicious. We believe that Laura was originally from Sussex and had moved to the Cornwall area from Brighton within the past couple of months. We are desperate to hear from anyone who knows Laura, or had seen her prior to her death.

“We have released an image of Laura from 2002 and we are hoping this might help jog the public’s memory. If you do have any information or sightings of Laura we would encourage you to contact us. We are trying to piece together Laura’s movements and any information from the public is vital and will be treated in confidence.

“We would also ask local hoteliers and bed and breakfast owners in the area to take a look at their guest registers and to contact us if a Laura Summers stayed with them.”
