A sea of uniforms greeted visitors to Falmouth's town centre on Sunday morning as the annual Mayor’s Civic Service and parade took place.

Hosted by Falmouth mayor, John Body, the event saw a parade made up of veterans and members of the Armed Forces joined by representatives from Falmouth and Penryn police cadets and sea cadets and led by the Kernow Pipes and Drums Band.

Also in the line up were Falmouth town councillors; Cornwall Council's vice chairman, and Penryn town councillor, Mary May; the mayor of Penryn, Mark Snowdon; mayor of Helston, Mike Thomas and the mayors of Camborne, Truro and Redruth. Also present were the chairmen of Budock, Mylor and Stithians Parish Councils - Peter Fairbank, John Symons and Peter Tisdale; Chief Officer Meerza representation RFA Mounts Bay and Argus and the High Sheriff of Cornwall's police cadet, Gavin Hearne.

The parade made its way from The Moor the Falmouth Parish Church where the service was conducted by

Father Ian Froom, staff chaplain of the Sea Cadet Corps. The intercessions were led by Becky Barber, universities' chaplain, and lessons were read by Amelia Hayden-Rowlands, daughter of family friends of Mr Body, and Ellie Richards, Falmouth Mayor's police cadet. A poem was also read by Holly Philpott, the five-year-old niece of Mr Body and his wife, Linda.

After the church service a reception was held at Zizzi on Events Square.
