Despite a forecast of dire weather, the rain stayed away for the annual Sea Sunday parade and service in Falmouth at the weekend when veterans joined local councillors and cadets to give thanks to all those who work, or have worked, at sea.

In Falmouth the event is traditionally held on the third Sunday of July and is coordinated by the local branch of the Royal Naval Association, working in conjunction with Falmouth Town Council and the Parish Church of King Charles the Martyr, where the service is held.

While the parade is predominantly made up of naval and military personnel, veterans' and youth organisations, including the sea cadets and police cadets, along with civic dignitaries from Falmouth, Penryn and further afield, there was an open invitation for anyone who has an affiliation with the sea or seafaring to take part.

The parade formed on The Moor and then marched through the town centre to the church for the service. Afterwards, the parade re-formed and made its way down to Events Square. A reception was then held at the Maritime Museum for all those who had taken part.
