Penryn College students in years eight and ten celebrated a successful end of term at the recent achievements and showcase evenings.

With year 11 students having already left, year seven in the Isles of Scilly and year nine students graduating the week before, it was a chance to focus on the outstanding achievements of years eight and ten.

The criteria this year has become even tougher to be nominated, let alone win an award, with students identified as the best of the best that contribute to every facet of school life, but especially academically. Guests were welcomed to both evenings with a drinks reception to give the evening a feeling of importance that it richly deserved.

Prior to the evening, year eight students showed parents, staff and peers their best work from the past school term at the year eight "showcase" event. The youngsters then dashed straight to the hall for the second part of the evening and the achievements celebration.

There was a chance to reflect on the sporting prowess of both year groups and as ever there was entertainment provided by students. Guests were treated to the grand premier of the Penryn College Video on top of the newly unveiled Wall of Fame.

The categories included best academic progress at both key stage three and key stage four, best reports and most achievement points. Teachers from each subject also nominated students to present them with awards for their contribution across the year. It was a great way to end another hugely successful year at Penryn College.
