Emergency services were called at 7.15am following the collision between a Honda motorcycle and a Toyota Auris at Station Approach between Penzance and Hayle. Mitchell sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The car driver, a 37-year-old woman from Penzance, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has been bailed until September 2.

The A30 had been closed until 2pm for police to conduct a forensic examination of the scene. Officers from the Force Collisions Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances of the incident and are appealing for witnesses.

They are particularly keen to hear from the driver of a white Hyundai I10 which was seen travelling past St Erth Services in the direction of Land’s End at 7.10am. It is believed the vehicle was directly in front of the collision and the driver would have certainly witnessed the incident.
