Police are appealing for witnesses after a man allegedly shattered a car windscreen with a punch in Helston last week.

The car was damaged on around 1am on Thursday, August 13, after an argument broke out between a man and woman, who are known to each other, in Coinagehall Street.

The 35 year old woman from Redruth got into a blue Mazda 323 and tried to drive off, and it was then that the man is alleged to have punched the windscreen, causing it to shatter.

Police said a 25 year old man from Redruth was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and released on police bail until September 16.
