Coverack Horticultural Society's 61st annual show on had a record number of entries from local residents, visitors and growers from across West Cornwall.

A high standard across the competition saw tables covered with vegetables and flowers, while the children's classes were full of colour and creativity, and the domestic section required additional tables to display bread, cakes and preserves.

Gloria Knight, show chairman, said: "Every year I get a little worried that people will be deterred by rain ruining their entries and that there might be a degree of sameness in staging the event annually, and every year, the reality is, that more people come with more entries than the previous show.

"Last year we had 390 and this year 435. I think the reason is that we all like tradition, competition and meeting up with old and new friends for a good old natter."
