Fingers are crossed that this Sunday's weather is fine so that the 27th annual Martin Jennings Memorial Motorcycle Run can go ahead.

The event had been planned for last Sunday, but organiser David Saunby postponed it because bad weather had been forecast. He was left disappointed, however, when he woke up to blue skies which remained for most of the day.

Early forecasts are predicting a dry and sunny day for this weekend, so it is hoped the run will go ahead. More than 1,500 motorbikes are expected to take part, gathering at Garras Wharf car park in Truro at 9am for a 10am start.

The morning route is kept secret for safety reasons, but the convoy of bikes are due to drive through Chiverton Cross roundabout at 2pm and then head for Camborne and then arriving at Beacon Square at about 2.20pm for a brief stop where a minutes silence will be observed in memory of Martin Jennings, who died competing in the 1987 Manx GP, and for all bikers who have died on the county's roads.

The run will then head to Falmouth via Troon, Helston, Rame, the Penryn by-pass and into Falmouth where the route has had to be changed because of the partial pedestianisation of the town centre. Riders will still go along Greenbank and High Street, but will then go up Killigrew Street, along Western Terrace and continue down Melvill Road from where they will rejoin the normal route around Castle Drive, the seafront, Penance Road, and back along Western Terrace finishing at Falmouth Ruby Club at about 3.45pm when riders will be greeted by mayor, John Body.

This year's run, which will be raising money for Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust, will be policed by the newly formed Martin Jennings Marshals Association which boasts 40 members and is affiliated to the BMF (British Motorcyclists Federation). They will be wearing high visibility vests which have been sponsored by Kelsall Steel Investment Services of Threemilestone.
