Police are appealing for witnesses following a street robbery in Camborne at the weekend when a man was punched and stabbed in broad daylight.

A group of men approached a 30-year-old man in the lane which runs from Basset Street to Cross Street, between 2.45pm and 3pm on Saturday, September 12, and demanded money and his mobile phone.

Following an altercation the victim, from Redruth, was punched and stabbed in the arm. He suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to hospital.

Officers have arrested a local man in connection with the incident. The 20-year-old, arrested on suspicion of robbery, has been released on bail until September 18. Two other suspects are described as white men, in their late teens to early 20s, with short dark hair.

One of them is around 5ft 6ins tall and of slim build, and the other is described as being 6ft 2ins tall and of stocky build.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident who has not already contacted police.
