Although Friday is the official day for Macmillan Cancer Support's annual fundraiser, the World's Biggest Coffee Morning, a couple of events have already taken place with many more planned for the end of the week.

Customers of the Falmouth Pitch & Putt Café at Goldenbank supported its annual event and raised over £1,000 on Friday. Once again, staff gave their time for free and organisers Alexis Woods and Pam Bullen have thanked all those who went along and supported the event so generously.

Ahead of the coffee morning, which actually ran from 11am until 3.30pm, the cafe had already raised over £150 for Macmillan through a book sale which had been running for several weeks.

The following day, a Macmillan coffee morning was held at Budock Village Hall and was well supported by local residents although it is not yet known how much was raised. This was followed by a chance to grab a soup and a roll at an event organised by the local playing field committee.

On Friday there will be several more fundraisers taking place, including one at the Flushing Sailing Club in Trefusis Road, Flushing from 10am to noon where there will be various stalls including cakes, plants and Neal's Yard organic products.

Another will be held at Mawnan Memorial Hall from 10am until noon when, as well as coffee and cakes supplied by members of Mawnan WI and Mawnan Wives, there will be a raffle with prizes donated by Budock Vean Hotel, Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens and all the local pubs and shops. There will also be a tombola, competitions and stalls selling books, bric a brac and plants.

Other Macmillan coffee mornings will be held on Friday at Penwarne Farm Cafe, Penwarne Barton Farm in Mawnan Smith from 10am, at Mabe Community Centre between 10am and noon and at Penryn Town Hall from 11am.
