As the country, if not the world, is gripped by rugby fever at the moment, pupils at Parc Eglos School in Helston have been celebrating their own sporting success after overcoming worthy opponents in two tournaments.
To begin with members of the school's tag rugby team took part in the World Cup Tag Rugby Tournament held at Helston Rugby Club last Monday. After battling it out on the pitch, Parc Eglos A Team were proclaimed the overall winners.
The following day, the primary school's football team competed in the CLIC Sargent charity football tournament which took place at Penryn College. Once again the school was triumphant - after winning seven out of their eight matches, the Parc Eglos team was declared the overall winner.
The two tournaments were held as part of the Southerly Point Co-operative Trust's latest round of sporting events which aim to encourage as many children as possible to take part. As well as the rugby and football teams, the cross country league now involves over 150 children in the Helston and Lizard area.
