Youngsters from St Francis School took time out of the classroom to go on an expedition, exploring the town and getting plenty of exercise during one the school's newly introduced Ex Days.

Music, arts, dance and drama teacher, Nicky Sutton, led a group of year four children on a tour of the town centre last Wednesday - starting at Events Square and making their way to Kimberley Park, stopping at landmark buildings and several local businesses along the way.

"We have been taking every year group, from one to six, out into Falmouth so the children can learn about their home town," said Ms Sutton. "I set a quiz trail where they have been learning all about the old buildings, their history and the street names so the children can get really familiar with where they live."

Once the group had arrived at Kimberley Park, they broke for lunch and the children had the chance to get even more exercise by making the most of the play equipment in the park's adventure playground.

Then, during the afternoon the pupils studied science and nature in the park. They went on a scavenger hunt and a bug hunt and did some sketching, taking inspiration from their surroundings, before heading back to school at the end of the day.
