With summer over for another year and thoughts already turning to Christmas, the gentlemen of the town's Harmony Choir are looking forward to their annual performance and are appealing for charities to get in touch if they'd like a share of the cash donated on the day.

Christmas Eve will see the 116th annual performance of the choir, previously known as the Docks Choir, and will see members make their way through Falmouth's town centre, stopping along the way to entertain the crowds with traditional Cornish carols while raising money for charity.

The choir's committee is looking for local charities who would like to be considered for a grant from the money collected, to get in touch.

"To apply, write to me stating who you are and what you would like to put the money towards, by November 5," said Kevin Gerry, choir secretary. "The charities will be chosen at the choir AGM at 7.30 on Wednesday, November 11, at Falmouth Bowling Club, all welcome. To qualify you must be a charity based in Falmouth, or doing work for the benefit of the people of Falmouth."

The committee is also looking for some volunteers to act as collectors on the day, accompanying the choir as it moves from Grove Place to The Moor. Choir members are also reminded to gather at the Falmouth Watersports Centre from 9am on Christmas Eve where they will then assemble outside for a practice at 10.15am.

Anyone wanting to volunteer to help, or any charities applying for a share of the money, should contact Kevin Gerry at Longdowns House, Herniss, Penryn TR10 9DS; 01209 860823; or email KJGerry@aol.com.
