Bright colours and powdered paint showered over entrants ensured Cornwall Hospice Care's very first Night of Neon fun run at Flambards was an event enjoyed by those taking part and those watching from the sidelines.

The event, held on Saturday, had proved a huge success, raising over £6,600 already with more money expected in over the next few weeks.

Attracting more than 100 runners, the inaugural 5k event took runners of all ages and abilities around Flambards’ park and grounds. The exciting night-time run featured neon paint zones, foam, music and plenty of fun, all for a good cause.

Runners were able to see Flambards in a different light and get their glow on while supporting Cornwall Hospice Care, which provides specialist care for patients and their families.

Flambards manager, Richard Smith, said: “We were really pleased to be able to host the first Night of Neon event, raising money for Cornwall Hospice Care. We were so impressed by the number of runners taking part, the energy and atmosphere on the evening was electric. It was great to see Flambards in a new – florescent – light.

“We are glad to be able to continue to support the Cornwall Hospice charity and are already looking forward to welcoming the Night of Neon back next year. We would encourage even more people to take part next time. It was great fun.”

Rose Beattie, events fundraiser for Cornwall Hospice Care, added: "We were delighted to have so much support for our first Night of Neon event. All of the money raised from the event will stay in Cornwall, to provide specialist care to people with life limiting illnesses, funding the teams at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell and St Julia's Hospice in Hayle to clinical, practical and emotional support for patients and their families.

“We’d like to say thank you to everyone who took part, our sponsors Flambards, Alfords Flooring, Nick Ferris Skip Hire, Elite Spas and Leisure and Pirate FM, as well as all of the volunteers who gave up their time to make the event a success."
