The members of the Helston World War One Heritage Project have said they are pleased to unveil the final version and announce the winning designers of its logo design competition.

The contributing winners, Ellie May Williams of Helston Community College, and Holly Patterson, Eden Fornear and Bronwen Box of Mullion School, all submitted good entries which the group felt should be combined into a final version.

This was done with the hekp of John Martin of AldousMartin Design Consultancy, and Ellie, Holly, Eden and Bronwen have all been invited to the opening of the project's new exhibition at Helston Museum on Monday.

Part of the project's remit is to involve and engage with young people between the ages of 11 and 25 in order that they gain better knowledge and understanding of their First World War heritage, and to that end local senior school pupils were invited to submit designs for a logo, which will be used on all of the project's paperwork until 2019.

The group's honorary secretary Martine Knight said: "Helston WW1 Heritage Project is delighted that its new logo has been designed using competition entries from four local senior school pupils.

"Having the input of the younger generation is a brilliant way of helping them gain better knowledge and understanding of their First World War heritage."
