YOUNGSTERS enjoyed a spooky walk through the Penrose estate in Helston on Friday as the Lizard CHILD Trust's week of half term activities drew to a spectacular, or should that be spooktacular, end.

As a prelude to Friday's walk, fancy dress competition and Halloween party, the Trust had staged a "crafty creations" workshop a couple of days earlier which proved so popular it was a sell-out.

Held at the Guildhall in Helston, children were invited to make, or improve, their Halloween costumes using their imaginations and materials brought from home. As well as the costume-making, there was also a chance for the youngsters to make their own pizza and decorate a homemade cookie.

Then on Friday afternoon the children in their fancy dress outfits gathered at the entrance to Penrose and walked through the estate to the house where the Trust's "spooktacular" event was held. This included apple bobbing, facepainting, a lucky dip with a twist and much more. The National Trust also ran a raffle.

The Lizard CHILD Trust (Community Help Improving Learning and Development) was set up in 1999 with a primary aim of providing support to the local community through a wide range of services and networks.
